SURPRISE PARTY (flerahl Correspondent.) » A large and well organised surprise party visited the home of Mr. and Mrs Luttrell, Te Ivarnka, last Saturday evening to congratulate Miss Shirley Luttrell on the eve of her birthday. The party of 65 guests was so large that the Parish Ilall had been prepared, and a very merry time was in readiness for all. Spring blooms and balloons de corated the hall and the supper tables wore arranged on the stage, displaying a first-class example of home cookery, "’he large cake mounted on a high •'ami was set with its 16 candles in "olouyed roses.
During the evening dancing, community singing and games were entered into with great vim, the merriment; being carried on until midnight. The presents received were opened by Miss Shirley Luttrell and placed on a large table amidst cheers and the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow. ”
Miss Luttrell thanked all present for such a pleasant surprise. The programme was in the capable hands of Mr. T. L. Earnshaw, with Miss L. Rum at the piano. Extras were played by Misses S. Luttrell and Makareha Morris.
