EARLY SETTLERS
ACTIVE P.B. BODY OBJECTS OF SOCIETY . At a meeting held recently, the Poverty Bay Early Settlers' Association decided upon the incorporation of the society, and it is necessary under the rules to hold a meeting, which will be held next Saturday, to elect the officer#. Keen interest is being taken in the association with a view to making its movements very active in this district. The committee will be anxious to get in touch with all settlers who qualify under the rules and enrol them as it is intended to hold social functions during the year to bring them nil together and perhaps, if it is possible, to record historical facts concerning old settlers and their pioneering experiences. So far as the history of this district is concerned, the only evidence on record refers to men who have been members of Parliament and local bodies. Many hold that the history of the district really has been made by the early settlors! and it is with the intent ion of hearing their experiences that the association lias been formed.
