SEPTEMBER RAINS

LOWEST FOR 10 YEARSSPRING FIGURES LIGHT NINE MONTHS’ COMPARISON Rainfall registered in Gisborne during September was lower than for any of the past 10 years, there being a total of _l.2J.in. recorded, as against 5.32 in. in September, 1935. Eleven days of September, 1936, brought showers of rain, but the largest individual recording was not much above a quarter of an inch, and most of the falls were of less than one-tenth of an inch. The details of recordings are as under: September 2, .09in. ; September 3, .25in.; September 4, ,09in.; September 7, ,06in.; .September 10, .02in.; September 13, .13in.: September 23, .OTiin.: .September 24, .29in.; September 25, ,03in.; September 2-7, .21in. ; September 28. .Olin.; total, 1.21 in.
