COUNCIL’S CLOSING ORDER OWNER WINS APPEAL (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a reserved judgment Mr. J. H. l.tixford, 55. M., ■ allowed an appeal against the Wellington City Council closing order served by the council upon the Public Trustee as owner of a house on which it demanded certain repairs, but! in which case a requisition under the Public Health Act had not been complied with. Mr. Lnvford said that unfortunately the law did not yet empower any authority to compel the owners of house property to keep them in wliat an ordinary minded citizen would call a decent state nf repair. He said that it would he Imped that the near future legislative enactment would give power to souu. authority to exercise control to ensure that all houses were kept in good order and condition until they reach an ag n when they should he, demolished.
