Parry, that greater interest than formerly is being t aft en by the people of New Zealand in the preservation of native trees and plants, "If the. spirited action which citizens aro taking to-day had 'been taken a few years hack, one could imagine the picture we would now have presented along tho highways and certain areas .around the cities, but it is not the past we should worry about, but tho future," said the Minister. Ho quoted correspondence received by him relative to destruction and conservation, and said, it was gratifying to find that parents were instilling into the minds of their children the need for protecting native plants and trees.
