TOKOMARU BAY CLUB CLOSE OF THE SEASON TROTHI IES PRESENTED (Herald Correspondent.) The close of the season for the Tokomani Bay Golf Club was marked by an idea! day, and many players and visitors were present; to honour the occasion. The closing competition took the form of a mixed foursome match, which proved very popular and interesting. This match was run on a handicap basis and was tied for by Mrs. I’. Murphy and W. Ilorton, and Airs. N. Oates and A. E. Nod well. A play-off ■it |he first hole resulted in a win by a four to a six by Mrs. Oates and A. E. Mod well. Prizes' for this match were donated hv Mrs. Brodie and by The •inb.
Afternoon tea was served at the pavilion by the ladies al the conclusion >f the match.
The president. Mr. F. Thompson, congratulated the prize winners on their successes, and remarked on tne excellent season thnj had just come to a close. Special thanks were tendered to Mr. 11. R. Short, who, as a member of the committee, had done valuable voluntary work on the greens, io the groundsman, Mr. Redwood, and to the ladies for their co-operation and support, especially on the social side.
An apology for absence was received from the secretary, Mr. J. B. -R afford, who was unavoidably absent. To him as secretary, and to Airs. J. oilson as the ladies’ president, were also extended the special thanks of the club for their untiring work during the season.
