DOMINION DAY
SYDNEY CELEBRATION DISTINGUISHED ASSEMBLY SYDNEY, Sept. 28. _ Dominion Day was celebrated in Sydney to-day at the New' Zealand Government offices. The Trade and Tourist Commissioner, Air. Taylor, entertained a large gathering, including Dr. Earle Page, Mr. W. M. Hughes and other Alinisters representing the Federal Government,' Yhc acting-Prcmier of “New South Wales, Air. AL P. Bruxner, and Messrs. H. P. Fitzsimons and M. J. Ryan, also of the New South Wales Cabinet? representatives of consular bodies, and many other organisations, and Air. R. B. Bennett, leader of the Opposition in Canada. .. Former New Zealanders present included Afr. H. H. Sterling, former chairman of the Government Railways Board, and Mr. E. D. Patterson, president of the New South Wales branch of the New r Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association. A Dominion ball wms held bythe New Zealand Women’s Association and the New South Wales branch of the New Zealand R.S.A. to-night. The first Dominion Day church service was held at St. Colomba’s Presbyterian Church yesterday, and was presided over by the Rev. W. Kinmont. Portions of Scripture were read by Afr. Taylor and Mr. P. Tite, president of the New Zealand Social Committee. New' Zealand associations in other States also celebrated Dominion Day. New' Zealand farmers attended at the Adelaide function. A New Zealand association has just been formed in Perth with Afr. Claude Swaine as president.
