EUOHRE TOUEN AMBNT (Herald Correspondent.) The final of a series of five euchre tournaments arranged by the Motu School Committee was held in the hall on Saturday night. There was a good attendance, and while card enthusiasts wore enjoying their games, in the sup-per-room Mrs. \Y. Rurburougli played dance music for the young people in tho main hall. Mrs. C. Whitehead playing delightful extras. Novelty dances were won i y Miss 15. Hutchins and Mr. H. Burhurougli, and Miss 31. Dereeourt and Mr. It. Twisloton. Mr. and Mrs. d. Donaldson wore in charge ol the supper arrangements, which were excellent iy carried out.
In a brief speech Mr. F. Donaldson, chairman of the committee, thanked everyone for their -support and stated that* as a result of the entertainments £ll was available for the school. Ihe prizes were presented to Mrs. G. Begg and Master G. Hutchins, winners ol Saturday night’s* tournament, with Mrs. F. Donaldson and Air. A. Grihben receiving other gifts. Mrs. J. Adams and Mr. D. Richardson won the aggregate prizes, with .Mrs. N". G. Nisbett and Mr. A. Grihben as runners-up.
The first act of “Fresh Fields,” a comedy in three acts, was read! at the i«st meeting of the Motu-Motuhora Dramatic Circle, and was a most enjoyable entertainment. Those taking part were Mesdames C. G. Anderson, N. Dayman. vV. A. Wright, and A. W. Thomson, and Mr. W. McCaffrey. Mrs. Anderson was the pianist for the mime and movement class, others present -being Mr. and Mrs. M. Marshall. .Mrs. W. McCaffery, Miss M. Derecourt, and! Mr. C. Anderson. Mrs. R. g. Fisher presided at the meeting of members of St. Raul’s Guild held at Mrs. ,]. Donaldson’s home, Motu, last Thursday afternoon, when matters pertaining to the recent! flower show were discussed and accounts passed for payment. The amount collected at the show, £26, was a record for the spring shows organised by tho guildThe Rev. J. D. Hodgson, who was present. congratulated the members on their successful efforts. There were present at the meeting Mesdames A. R. Fierce, H. O. Roys, T. R-. Tyennan, A. EL Legge, W. J. Reed, (J." Hutchins, W. Carroll, F. J. Read, N, G. Nisbett, C. 15. Anderson, and Miss P. Twisloton, secretary.
Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Bridge, who arrived in Auckland last Thursday by the liner Rotorua from England 1 , and have been in Gisborne for a few days, are expected at their home “Uincmoa,” Motu, this afternoon.
