OBITUARY

AUCKLAND PIONEER A resident of Kemuera for (>0 years, Mrs. Ellen Morrow, died on Friday, I aged 94. Mrs. Morrow, who was born ! in the North of Ireland, arrived at | Auckland with her husband, the late 1 Air. John Morrow, and their eldest child in 1863 by the ship Claremont. Mr. Morrow, who had been brought up to farming life, settled on a property in the Pukekohe district, which the Waikato war had again made safe for Europeans. However, the new arrivals took some time to become used to the bands of Maoris who were continually moving about the countryside, especially at night. After about 12 years Mr. Morrow sold his farm and moved to Auckland, buying the Remuera property, on will eh he and his wife spent the remainder of their days. She had 10 children, and her descendants, numbering fully 100, embrace four generations, and include two great-great-grandchildren.
