Mr. A. F. Allen, of the staff of the Gisborne Harbour Board, lias received an, appointment with the Public Works Department as an engineering assistant. Mr. Allen will be attached to the Gisborne office of the department. He has been several years in the employ of the Harbour Board, having been draughtsman and acting-engineer during the later stages of the inner harbour construction programme, and having carried out engineering work and supervision in connection with the conversion of one of the Korua's steel barges into a maintenance diedge. His excellent work in this connection was recognised last, year by the board by the payment of a substantial bonus.
