Fabrics for summer frocks show a wonderful diversity of weave and colour, and Petties' are featuring a very comprehensive assortment of the most popular styles. Chief in imoortance are the linen weaves, which include plain finishes, slubs. linen tweeds, and silk linens. These are all fast colours, and the variety of shades is bieser than ever.* The Government still affirms its intention to give "some greater protection to persons employed as domestics who are covered by no award. An assurance of this was giiven bv the Minister of Employment, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, who said in an interview in Christchurch that the provision made might be similar to that made for farm labourers. Mr. Armstrong implied, however, that t?ie matter was not at all urgent.
