SCHOOL FANCY DRESS BALL

Sixty children assembled in tlis Matawal Hall 1 on Friday night for the .school fancy dress, ball,' for which neither trouble nor expense had been spared to give the children a pleasant evening. Misses Iluru and Mortleman played the old-fashioned dances and games, which filled a lengthy programme. A sumptuous supper was provided. The supperroom was prettily decorated, with red and white streamers and little coloured paper lanterns made specially by the Matawai school children, while the tables were adorned with white and red papers, with beautiful bowls of bulbs, polyanthus and red-currant.

"Visiting children from Otoko and Motuhora were present, and even to the tiniest tots below school age, were [rocked in fancy costumes. Mr. Ewen and Miss Dare, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Greatbatch, Mr. and Mrs'. R. McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Pedersen, and Messrs. W. Calcott and R. Mortleman, were kept, very busy.
