SUSPENSION EXTENDED
PROHIBITED DRIVER CENSURE FROM. BENCH (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Harold Jesse Smith was charged in the Upper Hutt Court to-day with driving without a license, and Arthur Langiord with assisting him in the commission of the offence. The evidence showed that Smith's driving license was cancelled in Februarv until November IS for dangerous'driving, and ho was found in charge of a motor-cycle on September 13; At first ho tried to pose, as the owner, Langi'ord, and later produced' Langford'* license. "What is the use of the court cancelling your license if you iirc going to drive as usual?" asked Mr. 11. T, Lawry, ' S.M. "Then on top of it, von tell a lot of lies and put an in: specter to a great deal of trouble." In ordinary'circumstances, said Mr. Lawry, ho would have lined Smith £a, but because of the lies told he would be fined £7. The period" of the cancellation of the driving license was extended till March. Langford was fined £3.
