AVIATION AND EDUCATION MINISTER IN EUROPE LONDON, Sept. 14. Australia is behind Europe in aviation and education, according to tlic New South Wales Minister, of Education, Mr. D. H. Drummond,' on his return to London after a month on the Continent. “Post-graduate research in Europe, particularly in Germany, is given much greater attention than in Australia,” Mr. Drummond stated. “Australia is verv weak in this respect. Technical education is well organised and equipped. s “There is great, activity in aviation on the Continent,” added the Minister. “There are fine airports and intense research is being undertaken. ’ ’ When asked what he thought now of the Mascot and Essendon aerodromes, Mr. Drummond replied: “It is better left unsaid. Australia has a big handicap to reduce.”
