EX-CHAMPION DEAD
GAVE LIFE FOR FRIEND
LONDON, Aug. 18.
Condolences were received to-day by relatives of Captain Ernest Chandler, 45, art old-time. British boxing champion, who died at Brighton on •Sunday of blood poisoning, after He had given a blood transfusion for his old friend and fellow-sportsman, the late Sir Harry Preston.
It had been hoped that the transfusion would save Sir Harry's life. Captain Chandler died without knowledge of the loss of lii.s friend. Captain Chandler in his early years held tho amateur heavyweight championship of the world.
