OIL INTERESTS
SOLD BY ITALY MOSUL FIELDS LONDON, Aug. 12. Italy has sold her interest in Mosul Oilfields, it was announced last night As recently as September, cont.ro' of this company, which owns a con cession of about -16,000 square miles in Iraq, passed into Italian hands. The Italian Government toted £6.600,000 for the construction ol tanks and depots for oil for the navy. Increasing financial stringency in I fitly and the cost of the Abyssinian war have forced the Italians to abandon their dream. All the Italian representatives on the board have resigned. Iraq Petroleum Company has bought the Italian holdings. This company owns a concession of ,'52,000 square miles in Iraq. By this deal the company will own concessions on both sides of the Tigris. Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, the Royal Dutch-Shell group, a French group, and an American group each own a 23J per cent interest in Iraq Petroleum. Five per cent is held bv Mr. N. S. Gulbenkian.
