THE 40-HOUR WEEK
POSITION ON RAILWAYS (Per Prpss Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Replying to a question in the House of Representatives yesterday by the Kt. Hon. .T. G. Goates regarding the 40-hour week in the railway service the Hon. D. G. Sullivan said that of approximately .''ooo officers employed in the first division, at least two thirds are actually enjoying a 40-houi week or leas-. The same condition will apply to the balance of the clerical staff as soon as circumstances permit. It was a question of getting sutltcient trained men.
