A remarkably fast- journey from. Singapore to Dunedin was made by Air. Thomas Blackie, a milling engineer, of Siam. who arrived at. Tatcri aerodrome this afternoon by a Union Airways' plane. .Mr. Blackie left Singapore eight days ago by an Imperial Airways machine, reaching Rambang the same night. Xcxt clay lie took a Quanta* Airways-' plane and arrived at- Darwin after a rough crossing of the Timor Sea. Pie then went on to Brisbane and Sydney and connected with the Wanganelln on Saturday. Arriving at Wellington this morning', he flew to Dunedin by Cook Strait and Union Airways' machines. His journey of about, 6800 miles in eight days is probably a record-breaking one for a passenger. Mr. Blackie, who has had lib years' experience in mining in Central Otago. the Philippines and Siam. will take over the position of manager of the Austral Malay Tin Limited's claim near Cromwell," which will commence -work in the middle of next-year, when the first oi several huge dredges will be built.
