UPWARD TREND IN TRADE

IMPORTS AND EXPORTS FIGURES IN BRITAIN (Britisti Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. .RUGBY, Sept. 15. British exports last, month reached the highest total value of any August since 1930. Large increases over August of 1935 in the value of imports of food, drink, tobacco and raw materials are shown in last month’s overseas trade returns, and exports also show an increase.

For the first eight months of 1936, the total value of imports was £536,624.391. Exports were valued ul £283,170,234 and re-exports at £41,689.524. For the corresponding period of last year, the totals were: Imports, £479,044,687; exports, £277,736.951 : re-exports, £36,743,709.
