DRIVER WHO WENT ON DEATH OF WOMAN (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. “Jf the third driver heard the crash or the scream he is nothing more than the hit-and-run driver class avo are doing our utmost to suppress,” remarked the coroner, Mr. F. Gilbertson, at the conclusion of an inquest into the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Farglier, aged (57 years, who died in the Wellington Hospital as the result ,oi: being knocked over by a car driven by Weldon Edgar Francis Jeffries.

Jeffries, in evidence, said he was driving up Kent, Terrace when a second car stopped to give him waV at a street intersection, but a third ear swung out of this intersection behind the other ear, causing him to swerve and strike the deceased and her granddaughter, who woro crossing Kent terrace. The other car did not stop.

At this stage the, witness fainted, but revived, and was able to continue his evidence.

Another witness said that the accident. was caused by the third eiir not giving way. A formal verdict was returned that deceased died as the result, .of injuries. sustained when knocked over by a car.
