Father Coughlin, the “radio priest,” who figured largely - in Roosevelt’s accession to the Presidency of the United States of America, is now a declining power in American politics, according to Mr. R. Guggcnhoimer, of New York, who is at present touring New Zealand, states the Christchurch Press. Father Coughlin, in a sensational address over the air recently, withdrew his support from Mr. Roosevelt, and since then ways have been found of keeping him off the air. Although America enjoys a greater latitude in the matter of what may bo said or published on political and constitutional questions than does New Zealand,, yet, said Mr. Guggenheimer, there were technicalities, by which broadcast addresses could be held up or stopped, and those undoubtedly had boon made, use of in tluj case of Father Coughlin.
