A most successful “bring and buy” afternoon was held in the Masonic Ilall on Thursday by the Church of England Ladies’ Guild to raise funds for the purchase of a piano for the mission house. The sum of £l3 was raised, including a donation of £5 from Mr. A. ]>. Williams. Those in charge of the stalls were: Sweets, Mrs. J. Nugent; fancy goods, Miss Hills • jumble, Mrs. Cockery ; produce, Mrs. E. Fairlie. The 'ladies of the Mothers’ Union also took the opportunity to farewell Mrs. Steed and to present her with a set of fretwork table-mats, and a. special afternoon tea table was arranged for tins social function.

Mrs. L. Steed left Tokomaru Bay on Friday morning for Gisborne, where she will reside in future.—Mrs. Frank Jones, accompanied by her daughter Judith, who dind been the guests of Mrs. J. B. Stafford, returned to Gisborne at the week-end.—Mrs. G. Matchett and her two children, Whakatane, are spending a holiday with Mrs. W. Aupouri at Tokomaru Bay.—Miss K. Hogan lias returned to Gisborne after a holiday with Mrs. D. Powell, Ilautanoa.—The Rev. Father Art/., Oinaio, and the Rev. Father Ainsworth, Wellington, are the guests of the Rev. Father Sheely at Tokomaru Bay. Father Ainsworth recently conducted a very successful mission at St. James' Catholic Church.
