GISBORNE PROPOSAL Following the announcement that the Auckland and Provincial Funeral Directors’ Association have decided to eliminate Sunday funerals, it- seems that the same course will he adopted in .Gisborne next month. Mi*. T. N. Cochrane intimated this morning his intention not to conduct Sunday funerals in future. It had long been his desire to have these eliminated, he said. Mr. Cochrane recalled the fact that Mr G. V. Shennan had endeavoured to have the matter remedied long ago, and that representations had been made to the Gisborne Borough Council, but the council had taken no action.
Mr. T. Haisman, who is a member of the Auckland and Provincial Funeral Directors’ Association, stated that-- he would be falling into line with the proposal. It was a reform that would be welcomed not only by funeral conductors hut also bv the ministers of Gisborne.
