WOOL FOR JAPAN
AFRICA AND ARGENTINA TALK OF £10,000,000 POOL (Reed. Aug. 27, noon) TOKIO, Aug. 26. Japanese exporters of textiles, cottons, and silks and rayons are combining to form a £10,000,000 fund for subsidies for the purchase of South African and Argentine wool, while Manchukuo is planning large nppro-_ priations for sheep raising and the utilisation of fibre substitutes. It is hoped in Tokio that these measures will enable a resumption of tho negotiations with Australia. The Osaka Shosen Company has received from Capetown a report that the South Africans have abandoned the idea of raising the duty on Japanese woollen textiles, due to the outcry in Tokio over the former report.
