BOWLING CRITICISED
"DEFINITELY UNFAIR"
ESSEX-KENT GAME
(Reed. Aug. 27, noon) LONDON, Aug. 26,
Trouble is brewing over a newspaper article in which A. P. Freeman, reviewing the Essex-Kent cricket match at Southe.nd, and obviously referring to K. Fames, the Essex bowler, stated: "It is not often that professional cricketers complain, but the 'bowling of a certain Essex amateur, in our opinion, was definitely unfair.
"White and Fagg and others would have been injured if they had not taken the only alternative and quickly terminated the innings. Five balls out of six from the bowler were pitched less than half-way down the pitch. After this, one views the com ing trip to Australia with not a little apprehension." The'Daily Herald's cricketing correspondent says: "Whether or not Freeman has any grounds for his allegations, it seems a most unf.irtunato time to make them."
At an emergency meeting of the Essex committee at Clacton, it was decided to write to the Kent secretary directing attention to Freeman's criticisms of Fames.
