FARMERS' UNION

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE A meeting of the Poverty .Bay executive of the Farmers' Union was held tire, morning prior to the annual meeting in the afternoon. There were present: Messrs. J. E. Benson, president, J. u. Field, F. Hobbs, D. J". Gumming, i. vv. Seweli, S. Sinithers, J. K. Brosnahan, W. T. Veitch, -M. T. Tralford and (.. VV. Mossman. The president reported that a ate remit for tho Dominion conference had come from the Te Karaka branch, ami he gave instructions to have it forwarded to Wellington. The remit urged that manufacturers of woollen goods should be asked to share equally with the producers in a fund for publicity and research. His action in forwarding (he remit to Dominion headquarters was endorsed. In reply, the Dominion secretary suggested that the matter might be'brought before the conference in the form of' an amendment to one of the other remits. . .

To that end. it was decided to ask sheepfarm-, ers with over ICOO sheep to pay a subscription of £1 10s. Several who would come in this category had expressed their willingness to pay the additional levy. It was decided to make a recommendation to the annual meeting to this effect.. On the proposal of Mr. Hobbs, it was; nlNo decided to recommend that all" second-year members should be asked tot pay £1 10; if they were satisfied with what the union was doing. Messrs. Benson. Veitch and Field were appointed a committee to meet the Stockbrokers' Association regarding selling commissions and to report to the iicxt meeting of the executive.
