OBITUARY
MISS IVY CRAWFORD Very deep sympathy will be felt throughout the district for those bereaved by the death this morning of Miss Ivv Elizabeth Crawford, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Crawford, of Riverside road. Miss Crawford had been ill only a few days, and hopes had been held of her speedy recovery, when her illness took a serious turn, leading to her deatti at an early hour to-day.
The late Miss Crawford was born in Auckland, where her parents were among the earliest of the pioneers now surviving. Coming to Gisborue with her mother and father in 1905. she quickly established herself as one of the most popular of the younger women in the district, and continued here the keen interest in work associated with the Church of England which she had developed in Auckland. During! later years. Miss Crawford was president of the Holy Trinity Girls' Club, and in connection with the activities of the club showed a fine gift for organisation, and for maintaining the interest of her fellow-members. A fine appreciation of music was one of her many outstanding qualities, and apart from the work of the club Miss Crawford was a popular figure in social circles. During the war years, and for some time thereafter, her efforts were largely devoted to war work and efforts on behalf of the sick and wounded, in which she seconded with marked effect the interest of her mother, Mrs. T. A. Crawford, always a prominent social worker in this district. Katterly she had developed many individual contacts in the social field, and her passing will be noted with much regret bv those who vecoroispd her fine spirit and clear-sighted outlook. The late Miss Crawford's funeral will take place to-morrow morning from Holy Trinity Church.
