M.P.'s NAME TAKEN

GLASGOW AND THE I.L.P. FAIRNESS FROM TORIES GLASGOW, May 5. Mr. George Buchanan, M.P., who was one of the I.L.P. speakers at the May Day demonstration in Glasgow yesterday, bad an unusual experience. He and several of his fellow members of the I.L.P. had their names taken by the police. This was a sequel to their selling rosettes in aid of their party, a permit for which had recently been refused to the I.L.P. by the magistrates.

Strong protests were made at an I.L.P. demonstration in the ervening in the City Hall, when the chairman, Mr. Joseph Payne, said that while there was a Tory majority in the corporation there was never any question of imposing such a ban on organisations in this connection. Now that there was a Labour majority in the corporation that ban was imposed. The authorities will decide as to whether any further action shall be taken.
