A VARIETY OF CASES

(Herald Correspondent.) The quarterly session of the Tolaga Bay Magistrate's Court, held yesterday, was presided over by Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M.

Henry Ralph Pardoc, motor lorry driver '(Mr. !3. V. Beaufoy) entered a plea of guilty on a charge of conveying sheep on -a main highway after dark, without a permit. He was convicted and fined 10s, and costs 10s. George Ghaffey (Mr. Beaufoy), who pleaded guilty to a charge of aiding the previous! defendant, "was convicted and lined £1 and costs £1 2s 6d.

Charles N. Smith (Mr. A. J. Stock) entered a plea of guilty to a charge ot working at his calling on Sunday in view of a public place by carting manure from the Tolaga Bay wharf to Arikihi station. He was convicted' and fined 10s, with costs lis.

Stanley Owen Dyke, licensee of the Whangara Hotel, was charged with selling liquor to Apirana Crawford, John Lardelli and George Haere on April 25 at a time when his premises were required to be closed for the sale of liquor. Mr. J. S. Wauchop appeared for the defendant and entered a plea ot guilty. Defendant was convicted and fined £l, with costs 12s. Two further charges, one of exposing liquor for sale and the other of opening his premises for the sale of liquor, were withdrawn. Zoe M. Dyke, wife of the previous defendant, pleaded guilty to a charge of supplying liquor to Apirana Crawford, John Lardelli and George Haere. Defendant was convicted and fined £l, with costs 12s. Apirana Crawford and George Haere, charged with being unlawfully on licensed premises, were convicted and lined £l, with costs 17s. John Lardelli, on a similar charge, was convicted! and fined £l, with costs 12s. In a civil case John McDonnell (Mr. A. A. Whitehead) v. N. $. Thomas (Mr. M. R. Maude), a claim for £IOO, judgment was given for plaintiff for £72 10s, with costs £7 Bs.

In the case of Frank McGee and Robert McGee (Mr. S. V. Beaufoy) v. Ernest Stock (Mr. A. J. Stock), a claim for £42, judgment was given for the defendant on the claim, with costs £4 13s. On a counter claim for £3 13s 4d, judgment was given for the defendant. Stock, with costs £1 lis.
