PING-PONG CHAMP 0 LNSHIP

•\ ping-pong championship was held in'tho Masonic Hall, Childcrs road, by the members of the Gisborne Cadet Ambulance Division. A very enjoyable evening was spent and many fast ana closely fought matches were witnessed. The tournament itself took the form of a contest in which each player had the opportunity of playing every other player. After 50 matches had been keenly fought, two members, Corporal A. Miller and Cadet G. Petersen, emerged with nine wins and one loss each to their credit. This meant a play-off to decide the victor. There was not much to choose between the two boys, for, before finality could be reached it, was necessary to (day ad'•rentage. The final score was 22 points to 20 in favour of Cadet,(J. Petersen, who attained the title of. champion, with Corporal A. 'Miller as runner-up. The success of the evening was due to the efforts of Cadet Superintendent Charles Webster and Cadet Officer R. C. Stichbury, who capably controller., the matches. Those who also took part in the championship included Corporals A. Miller and P. Swift: Cadets B. Stevens, J Wyllie, G. Petersen, It Muir, b. Overend, D. Miller. C. Robinson, JMohan and P. Small.
