Compared with the sending of a letter by the ordinary method, the use- ot the New Zealand air mail involves only one departure from the usual system. The Post Office, to simplify and if possible to popularise the new method of air transit-, merely requires that these letters shall be. plainly marked on the left-hand side—preferably diagonally — "By Air Mail." This may be written, but the use of the small blue label (to be obtained free of charge at any post oilier) is recommended. The label is noticed readily where a written inscription may he' overlooked. The postage is 2d per ounce, and there is no need to use air-mail stamps--ordinary stamps suffice.
