THIRTY-THOUSAND CLUB

RULES AND OBJECTS WIDE FIELD OF ACTIVITY A comprehensive list of rule:-, and ob [eels lias been drawn up in connection with the recently-formed Gisborne ThirtyThousand Club. The aims of the club cover a wide field of activity and with the support of all sections of the community much should be accomplished in the endeavour to exploit the assets ol Poverty Day and the Fast Coast. The club in the first place is nonpolitical and non-sectarian. It has been established in order to promote and assist in furthering the advancement, expansion and development of the Oisborne and Fast Coast districts, comprising the counties of Wairoa, Cook, Waikohu, Lawn, Waiapu, Matakaoa, and Opotiki. The following are tho means by which it is desired to attain the above objects,—

By creating and fostering the spirit ol civic pride and enthusiasm, warranted by the assets and resources of the (lis trict.

By exploiting and popularising tin natural resources and expanding, in creasing, and enlarging and advertising the attractions of the district.

By making it common knowledgi amongst the people of the Dominion thai for living conditions, scenic and health attractions, hotel and similar accom inodation, sunny climate, beaches, sporl and educational*facilities there is no othci part of the country which has more lo offer the holiday-maker or resident than "Sunny Gisborne" and the district.

By 'furthering (he establishment ami 'xpansion of industries. By encouragement of aviation, afforestation, irrigation, railway extension, and unproved roading, and by co-operation vvit-h-existing orgaiisations in furthering of the club's objects. By promoting and encouraging tours in the district.

By co-operating wilh existing organisa (ions in securing improved transport Her vices.

By securing the interest and support, ol members of Parliament and other public

Bv co-operating wilh any organisation for (lie promotion of education. By encouraging (lie maintenance of.the high level of Maori art. and culture. By collecting, preparing and publishing statistics, scenic and descriptive literature of (he attractions, and activities of tindislricl and its historical importance. By organising or assisting lo organise seaside and aquatic sports, etc. The second object of the. association is to acquire a public hall, sports or nt her grounds, library, museum, insli lute or buildings fin: the- use of members of Ihe association and the public. The club intends also lo affiliate with any society, body, or association having similar objects. The rules provide for (he dividing of members into four classes, namely, life members, honorary life members, foundation members, and annual members. The number of life members is limited to five, to be elected at (he annual general,meeting. Honorary life members of an unlimited number may be elected by the executive or by the association at the annual meeting.' Persons ot good repute, companies, clubs, societies, cor poralions, institutions, local bodies and other organisations are eligible to become foundation members. The subscription ol 2& 6d is payable by foundation members no further subscription being payable. Thb annual membership subscription is Is.
