SHEEP WORRYING
REGISTRATION OF DOGS COOK COUNCIL’S PROPOSAL REPLY FROM THE MINISTER Replying to the request of the Cook County Council for an amendment to the Dogs’ Registration Act, 1908, in order to provide better control of dogs likely to engage in sheep-worrying, the, Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, wrote as under to the council at to-day’s meeting:—
“I am in receipt of your letter relative to an amendment being made to the Dogs’ Registration Act, 1908, making it compulsory for dogs to be tied up at night. The photographs which you have forwarded clearly illustrate the loss that is occasioned to farmers by worrying of sheep by dogs, and you may bo assured that your representations will be carefully considered.
“At the present time the Government is engaged in bringing into effect its main policy measures, and there is little possibility of an early amendment to the Dogs’ Registration Act, but I will bear your representations in mind when an opportunity arises of considering an amendment to such Act.” The letter was received.
