An interesting spectacle was observed at 9 o'clock last night when a lunar rainbow was plainly visible to the southeast of Gisborne. It consisted of a uniform white arch. The illumination of the full moon on a raincloud has been recorded giving the distinct hues of a solar rainbow, but fainter.
