STOCK AT MATAWHERO SHEEP MARKET ACTIVE At the weekly stock sale conducted by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers' Association at the Malawhero saleyards to-day tfiere was an active demand for sheep, specially stores, for which there was a good sale. There was a good entry ol stock and the sale attracted a large attendance. BEEF An entry of 20 head of fat cattle, all ordinary dairy sorts, was yarded, but attracted little attention. A Shorthorncross cow made £4 15s, and a Jersey co.v £3 8s; other prices ranged from £2 to hi 15s. Prices : Cows.-One jersey, £2 6s; i ditto, £2 5s ; 1 good black, £3 8s ; 1 Jersey, £2 15s: 1 good Shorthorn Jersey, &t tSs; i Jersey,-£2 14s: 1 Jersey. *,2 l'is Gil; 1 Jersey, £1 19s; 1 Jersey. After lunch the. sale continued to be very brisk, with some keen buyers for wethers and lambs, causing these classes to be sold in favour of the vendors. Prices : Lambs.—Two hundred and nineteen shorn wethers, well-grown, guaranteed store condition, 14s yd; 219 wethers, shorn, good size and condition, 15s Id ; 197 shorn wethers, good frame and condition, on account of Messrs. Kells and Turnbull. 15s; 132 woolly ewes, wellgrown, with condition, 20s; 99 wether.; of last lot, 16s Id; 124 shorn wethers, good size, good store condition. 15s 7d : i 69 shorn wethers, good size, in good order, a straight line, 15s 6il ; 60 good Southdowns, off hills, a few small, 13s 6d • 72 good solid Southdowns, 16s 3d; 114, medium size, lis 2d; 36, fairly good size, shorn, bright, 14s 3d.
