AIR MAIL TRAFFIC
LAST YEAR'S INCREASE LONDON, Feb. 1. The Postmaster-General announces a further substantial increase in the weight of letters sent by air from this country during 1935: the total weight dispatched during the year amounted to 187 tons, as compared with 122 tons in 1934—an increase of about 54 per cent. The following is a detailed comparison between the letter air mail traffic for the years 1934 and 1935 : Increase 1934 1935 (1935 lb lb over 1934) Empire air services 143.700 248.100 73 p.c. European services ... 98.400 143.900 46 p.c. Total for all services ... 272.300 419,400 54 p.c. It is estimated that nearly 10,500.000 leters were dispatched by air from tin's country during 1935, as compaied with about.' 6.000.000 in 1934. and about. 4,000,000 in 1933. The total weight of air parcels dispatched abroad during 1935 was 79 tons, as compared with 74 tons in 1934 and 67 tons in 1933.
