AIMS OF JAPAN
MISSION IN EAST ASIA REMOVAL OF OBSTACLES INTENTION TO PROCEED PLANS OF WAR OFFICE (Elec. TV], Copyright—United Press Assn.) (P.ecd. April 15, 12 noon) LONDON, April 14. The Sun-Herald News Service says that, preparing the nation for a sustained effort to provide the armaments which Japan’s new policy in Asia requires, the Japanese War Office has circulated for domestic consumption a pamphlet outlining Japan’s international position from the viewpoint of the army, and also a comparison of Japanese and Russian armaments, tanks and aeroplanes. 1 The pamphlet says: “By the Japan- 1 Manchukuo protocol, our first line defence has been advanced to the Soviet frontier, where the heavily armed Far Eastern Red Army confronts our forces. Russia’s Government has completely changed since the Russo-Japanese wav, but the aggressive Ear Eastern policy is unchanged. ‘.‘England and America jealously watch Japan’s rise, but if any country attempts to prevent us attaining our mission in East Asia, we shall remove the obstacle by all means in our power.
