An anticyclone extends acioss the Tasmau aea and soutliern Xew Zealand, liui a deep cyclonic disturbance is a,dvaucing irom uie north-west towarus the r.orthern aistricts. and will shortly be attectihg most ol the Dominion. Winds: Strong nprt'n-easteriy to easterly winds to gates and rising in places to heavy gales in the northern half of the Xortti island; moderate to strong winds nenveeit north-east and souto-east, thence southwards to Nelson and Martoorougti, later reaching gale lorce; elsewhere moderate but" freshening south-westerly to south-easterly. Seas: High north ot East Cape and rough to high north ot K.awliia; elsewhere, moderate, but rising rapidly from Cook Strait northwards. Eastern Tasman Sea: Easterly, chungmg shortly to southerlies in the northern portion, with high seas; strong southeasterly to southerly winds, and rough sens m the southern portion. Weather: Dull and'misty, with rain iu the northern part o fthe North Island and extending southwards to "Nelson and Marlborough; heavy falls probable with much -floodmg and stormy conditions especially in the northern half; elsewhere fair at first, but clouding over and later lain developing also in tihe eastern districts of the South Island.
