PAYMENTS INCREASED
U.S. INCOME TAX EVIDENCE OF RECOVERY (Reed. March 26, 3 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 25. A Treasury estimate published today indicated that income tax payments in the current calendar year total £280,000,000 and showed a marked improvement in business conditions since 1935, when the collections totalled only £220,000,000. New York State continues to dominate the nation as the financial and industrial centre, its payments comprising one-third of the total.
