(Herald Correspondent.) A further "sample" of -New Zealand weather came, along on Saturday, following a light drizzle on Friday, com polling the cancellation of all outdoor icstures. A hurst, of brilliant sunshine un (Sunday morning gave promise of a line day, but this was. soon, dispelled by a cold southerly with a decided drop in. the temperature, indicating snow on the high country. Mr. P. G. Watson, a well-known dairy farmer at Tuhara, met with a serious accident, on Saturday, necessitating his, removal to hospital. Mr. Watson was shifting a, bull from, one paddock to another when the animal attacked him. The alarm was given and Mr. tiagen picked up the injured man alongside a fence, the bull being on the other side. Mr. Watson was unable to say whether he rolled through the fence or" was thrown through if by the- bull, hut he had three broken ribs and severe knee injuries. Mr. Pryde took the, animal to the freezing works to be killed. Last evening Mr. Watson was progressing as satisfactorily as could lie expected. The Wairoti Power Board engineer, Mr. C. J. Drewitt, reported at Monday's meeting of the board that good progress was being made with the floodlighting of the Morere swimming pool. The system, which includes eight lights, should be very effective. The Wairoa Power Board's revenue for the past month totalled £464, the chief items being light, £104; and power. £348, The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Wairoa Ladies' Coif Club :—-President, .Mrs. R. M. Mowat ; vice-president, Airs. C. P. Sainsbury; captain, Mrs. P, C. Coldstone; vice-captain, Airs. A. E, Smith; secretary, Miss Harrison ; handicapper, Miss Buchanan; committee, Mesdames Cricblou and Glengarry and Miss Malcolm. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring president and captain, Alesdames (.-)..' O. K. Sainsbury and W. Watson, both of whom had declined further offices. A number of new members were elected, and it was decided to hold a match on every •second Friday. Leave of absence was granted at the Power Board meeting to Messrs. K. B. Crombie and A. T. Carroll.—Mrs. At. Dillon, of Gisborne, a former resident of Wairoa. who has been spending a holiday with Airs. A. E. Crane, has returned home.—Air. 0. A., Coyle has taken over the- management of Humphries' Cash Store.-—Aliss Tui Storey, daughter of Airs. G. Storey, North Clyde, is a patient in the Wairoa Hospital.—Air. W. Thornton has been admitted to hospital suffering from a fractured ankle.
