BULK ELECTRICITY
CHARGES FOR SUPPLY THE \V,AIROA DISPUTE The Now Zealand Municipal Electric Supply Association has instructed its executive to take up the matter of the dispute between the Wairoa Borough Council and the Wairoa Power Board regarding the charges for bulk supply of power levied by the Power Board upon the council. In the event of the executive successfully contesting the issue ia the interests of the Wairoa Borough Council, its action in all probability will affect the position of other smaller supply authorities similarly placed. Tin" matter was brought up at the annual conference of the association in Napier by the Mayor of Wairoa, Air. 11. L. liarker. ,
Mr. Hark.er .outlined the position in Wairoa/ stating that it nvas the council's desire for the association to give assistance. . .
"Wo feci that this association was brought into being for .the joint protection of the individual members," ho added. "We have placed the matter before the department and have received, a reply that it could not be recommended, to the Minister. On the motion of, the, president, it was decided that the whole question should be placed in the hands of the executive. • , At the request; of the, chairman of the Havelpeic North Town Board, Mr. IT. B. voii Dadelszen, it whs also decided that the executive should investigate'the position of the power supply of that board.
