POPULATION NEED
REAR-ADMIRAL'S VIEW
SYDNEY, Feb. 18.
"Populate or perish." That opinion as to the future policy of Australia was expressed to-day by 1 Reai--Admiral 11. V. Feakes on his arrival in Sydney on the Manoora with Mrs. Feakea after a year's tour of-Europe and Asia. VWe must have migrants," declared Rear-Admiral Feakes, "and we must have a lot of them. England is kindly disposed towards the migration policy. Lord Bledisloe, former Governor-Gen-eral of New Zealand, is one of the most ardent champions. A farmer himself, he knows the value of migration." According to Rear-Admiral Feakes, Rngland was alive to the necessity of extending her fishing grounds. '"Recently," he said, "a naval boat was despatched on this work, and discovered excellent grounds.
"Europe," he declared, "is virtually an armed camp. Mobilisation there is in full swing, almost to the point of actual war conditions.
