AMATEUR ATHLETICS

TEAM FOR OPOTIKI FIRST ANNUAL' CONTEST A team has been selected to represent the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Hairier (Club against representatives ol Opotiki, Rotorua and Hamilton athletic clubs. It is reported from Opotiki that a banner has been donated for annual Competition amongst the four clubs and this will be the first occasion on which athletes from these four centres have met on the field. The contest will take place in Opotiki on Saturday next and n all athletes chosen by the local selectors are able to make the trip the Gisborne club will be strongly represented. The Gisborne team is as follows: — ICO. 220, and 440vds senior, G. Quinn, h. Jones, C. 11. Dawson. T. Leslie, and P. Haisman ; 880yds and one mile senior, C. Parkinson, T. Trengrove, and 1». Morrow ; one mile medley relay, G. Quinn, L. Jones, C. Parkinson, and T. Trengrove; 100. 440 and 800yds junior, M. Stevens. P. Hockley, S. Gribben, L. Gavin, and R. Fells ; 50, 100 and 220yds ladies, Misses J. White, 15. Sheen, A. Simpson, L. Chitty, and H. Percy; cyclists, seniors. G. Sutton, S. Parker, P Davies, and A. Eastwood; cyclists, juniors, L. Bell, and A. Nicholson; ladies' high jump and broad jump, Misses .1. White and N. Hutchinson; junior high jump, S. Gribben, P. Hockley, R. Fells.' and L. Gavin; men's broad jump, G. Tiffon, W. Wallace, and V. Hockley; men's hop. step and jump and high jump, G. Tiffen, W. Wallace, and L. Greyj shot putt. J. Algie, A. Redmond, G. Tiffen and T. MeGuffie; discus throw. J. Alglie, A. Redmond. C. Parkinson, and T. MeChiHie: javelin throw, G. Tiffen, (.'. Parkinson, and S. Gribben.

Any of the above athletes who cannot make the trip should notify the secretary or the chairman before 5 p.m. to-morrow. The bus leaves for Opotiki at 7 a.m. on Saturday. All athletes have been invited lo attend a welcome to G. Quinn and L. Grey in the club room on Thursday night.
