As a sequel to a recent accident on the Hutt road, Patrick llassett, a slaughterman, aged 25 years, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to charges of the unlawful conversion of a car to his own use, of being intoxicated while driving, and of driving without a license. Senior-Sergeant Dempscy. said that the .accused, after having some drinks, look a baby ear from Bond street and drove it towards Petone at between 45 and 50 miles an hour. When on the wrong side of the road he collided with nn on-coming ear. llassett was convicted Oil all three charges and was sentenced to gaol for six months on the first, count and ordered lo come up for sentence within IL' months on the second count, 'lie was discharged on the third charge.
