ADMIRATION FOR N.Z.
PARADISE FOR MOTORISTS AUSTR ALIA N* S . PRAISE v 'After three weeks' holiday spent in your country I ain going back to Australia an ambassador of New Zealand, which I think is a motorists' and anglers' paradise," said Mr. W. J. Bradley, K.C., a prominent Sydney barrister, who is president of the Royal Automobile Club of Australia.
During his stay in the Dominion he has visited Botorua, Wairakei, Napier and Wellington, travelling by motor car, journeying along "wonderful"" roads. He declared : "The visitor has something different to see almost every mile. It is so different in- Australia. The hospitality of the people and their solidarity have also impressed me very much. You are more British than the British themselves. "On my return to Australia I am going to do my utmost to urge Australians to take their motor cars to. New Zealand and spend their holidays motoring through your country. Within a short time a representative of the motoring associations in New Zealand will be sent to Australia with the object of conferring with associations and clubs there."
Mr. Bradley considered that Australia and New Zealand had common interests, and that everything possible should be done to bring the two countries closer together.
''lt is time that oranges and potatoes were forgotten and reciprocal trade agreements were entered into," he said. "However, I understand something will be done about this before long." The existing tax imposed by the Government upon travellers was objected to by him on the principle that there, were excellent opportunities for developing a large tourist traffic between Australia and New Zealand, but this tax was a barrier. "It is difficult to reconcile this with efforts I understand New Zealand is making to encourage tourists to visit your country," he said.
