SWIMMING
GISBORNE CLUB FERGUSON CUP FIXTURE TEAM FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS -V meeting- of the committee members of* the Gisborne Amateur Surf and Swimming Club was held last evening. Mr H F. Forater being in the chair. A report on the Te Ruin swimming carnival whs read and members expressed their satisfaction. The following new club records were passed:—-S. Dodgshun, 27sec. in the SGvds intermediate boys' championship. Mii'd Miss H. McKnight, 32 l-ssec. in the 50vds ladies' championship. The club night and river race events, which were -set down for this week, were held over until a later date, which will be advertised. A large number of new members were elected, mostly juniors. The new members are Misses Gladys Foote, Kathleen Newcomb, and June McGregor, Masters At hoi Harrington and Pat Wickens, and Mr. A. Anderson. _ ... ~ A sub-committee, Messrs. D. \\ . McKeague and I). Miller, was appointed o finalise arrangements and settle a date for the visit from the Opotiki suvl htesaving team. MONDAY NIGHT'S FIXTURE
Arrangements were finalised for the Ferguson Cup carnival to be held at the .Macrae Bath next Monday evening, the Heretaunga team was announced as follows :—W. Fan-ell. B. Wrigjht, E. Doggetl. L. McDougal. C. Muir, M. Asiman. J. Nelson. C. Thurlow, and b. Sullivan. The team is a strong one and it was pointed out that Fan-ell is an ex~nd title and record holder and at present a Hawke's Bay record holder. Billets will be required for two of the team and any information in this respect will be given by the secretary. The visitors will arrive on Sunday and return on Tuesday to Hastings. The Forster Cup half-mile river race will be held on February 6 at 5 p.m.. and the Gibbs Cup river race on February 8 at 6.30 p.m. . 'Members selected to take part in the provincial championships at Napier next month are as follow : Diving. 11. Wall; hovs. R. Clav: intermediate boys, S. Dodgshun; ladies, Miss H. .McKnight; men', H. Holmes. . The attendance of the following members is required at the Macrae Bath at 11 am. on Sunday for trials:—lntermediate boys. D. Lange: intermediate rirls Misses J. Garland, N. Henderson. C. McKnight, and J. McKnight ; junior girls. Miss M. Young: men. D. Bowie. S. Dodgshun. D. Lange, J. Beckett, P. Wilson. D. Armstrong, and H. Green; polo team, Crawford, Waucbop. Robinson, Green. Clark, Cederwall. Yarley, Armstrong, Selves, and Beckett. The manager and chaperon of the team to visit Hawke's Bay will be Mr. M. Owen and Mrs. Heeney respectively. Transport arrangements and billets, where necessary, were left in the hands of a sub-committee. It was decided to have the rope lanes at the bath repaired in time for the Ferpuson Cup races on Monday evening. The 'diver, H. Wall, was nominated to the. Hawke's Bay centre for selection as a candidate at the national championships to he held this year at Diuieclin.
