SEVERING OF ARTERY

MAN FALLS ON KNIFE FIRST AID ATTENTION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Slipping on a hillside three miles from Paraparaumu when pig shooting, O. 3. Howarth, headmaster of the Island Bay School, Wellington, fell on a, knife lie was carrying in his belt, and as a result an artery in his thigh was severed. His companions managed to tie the ends ot the artery and give him first-aid attention until a doctor arrived.

Mr. Howarth was removed to hospital and his condition is reported as satisfac tory.
