THELMA TODD’S DEATH
STORY OF ASSAULT REVELATION AT INQUIRY NEW YORK, Dec. 27. Another sensational touch was given fo the inquiry concerning the cinema comedienne, Miss Thelma Todd, when a report was circulated that an unnamed man mentioned in the inquiry had beaten her severely a few days before she was found dead on December 16 in her automobile near the cafe which she operated near Santa Monica. While the report was not confirmed, it became known that all the employees in Mis Todd’s cafe would be summoned before the grand jury as a result.
It is indicated that the suspect and Miss Todd had been seen in a violent dispute in her cafe one night late, when the place was almost deserted. The former then struck the actress with his first, knocking her over a table and necessitating the intervention of a yaiter.
