TOLL TAKEN BY BLIZZARD VICTIMS IN AMERICA NEW YORK, Dec. 27. The nation entered its tenth day of abnormally cold weather with a toll of human life of over 200. Stories of suffering, of whole villages being marooned bv blizzards and of persons being frozen in their homes or in the streets poured in from all over the country. Unusual temperatures prevailed in the south and tlfc west. Cincinnati reported six degrees below zero and Springfield and Illinois two below freezing point. The low temperatures extended into Florida, oven along the Gulf Coast to Galveston (Texas). Sixteen deaths were attributed to excessive cold in the south, Ixllllo citrus and vegetable crops, being prepared for the northern markets, were destroyed. Freakish and heavy snowstorms in Maryland marooned the town of Easton and the entire area south of Centerville, all traffic ceasing and diminishing the food supply, producing great suffering.

Three persons wore frozen to death in New York. Twenty thousand are employed cleaning the streets of snow.
