McGRATH BEATEN
ANGAS ON HIS GAME PLAY IN CHRISTCHURCH (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The Canterbury tennis champion, CAngas, beat Vivian McGrath, the visiting Australian Davis Cup player, in a match at Wilding Park on Saturday afternoon. Results of games were as follows, Australian names being given first: Men’? Singles. —E. F. Moon beat A. R. Cant, &—2, 6—3; V. B. McGrath lost to C. Angas, 4—6, 6—2, 4—6. Men’s Doubles.—McGrath and Moon beat Angas and Gant, 6—2, 6—2. Angas played the game of his life in the singles with McGrath, returning •diots from almost impossible positions. McGrath, on the other hand, made many errors. Cant fought hard against Moon, •ut the Australian had the upper hand, always beating Cant with very fast services’ and well-placed net-skmumiig Lives. In the doubles, the Australians returned everything and were much too clover for the Canterbury men. Angas played a sound game, but, Cant was not so sure. . , . In the final of the womens singles championship, Miss Irene Poole heal Miss Edna Rudkin, 4—6, 6 —2, 6—2. _ Misses I. and T. Poole won the ladies doubles final from Miss Wake and Miss Sherris, 6—o, 12 —10.
